Questions of the crying man

These are trying times for every crying man
Whose lying to himself when he tries the best he can
Spends his whole life toiling building castles of sand
Burnt by floating ashes from what once were his plans

How long ago The Misery came along
Why has it stayed
Who decided to sing the common song
What did he think it paid
Where oh where have our little lights shone
When will these rights be wronged again

Why did I stop when I wanted to go
Who was I trying to please
What lies beneath the blankets of snow
Where the birds breeze 'tween the trees
When do I lose the burden I know
How will my head be eased

Who do I hope for when I hear the knock
What comes after night
Where do I run to when I hear the clock
When will I see the light
How do you swim when you're stuck on the dock
Why does it squeeze so tight

"What do you mean" his head in his hands
Where he used to be
When he lived in freedom he travelled the lands
How he used to see
Why she was nobody but she understands
Who he is supposed to be

Where were you when I needed a friend
When it was all but lost
How did you see me seeing the end
Why not let a fallen man cross
Who always borrowed but never did lend
What made it worth the cost

When the mystery's solved they say we'll know more
How we're part of the sun and the moon
Why we opened the window but left shut the door
Who it was humming our tune
What once was adrift will be washed up ashore of
Where we'll be headed soon

These are trying times for every crying man
Whose lying to himself when he tries the best he can
Spends his whole life toiling building castles of sand
Burnt by floating ashes from what once were his plans
